Monday Musings of Pastor Ron - July 27, 2026

Are you ready for some change? Are you ready to take a break from the monotony of the summer? We are going to do just that these first three weeks of August.

As we prepare ourselves for the beginning of a new school year, we look forward with a little trepidation and a little relief. No matter how much we like summer it reaches a semi-stagnant state around the first of August. Every day seems dry. Every day is hot. There are only so many ways we can spend a summer day, and we have been doing that most of July.

Worship can become that way as well. We are coming up on the 10th Sunday after the Pentecost. Our Worship experience is relevant but is starting to seem very comfortable. We have a prelude, then a call to Worship, the band leads us in praise and then we settle in for the announcements, the pastoral prayer, the offering, and the message. We are so comfortable that we will sometimes miss the Call to Worship knowing the band sings for a while after.

An order for Worship is important. What we do in Worship is important. But that doesn't mean it has to be the same every Sunday. That doesn't mean it should become so standard that it is monotonous. So, this Sunday we are going to do something about that. We are going to take our last break of the summer. We are going to take a Praise Break.

For the next three Sundays we are going to bring a little early Methodist revival atmosphere to the church. We are going to sing a little more, pray a lot more. share a little more and Praise our Lord and Savior a whole lot more. Invite everyone you know to join us. We are going to spend some time as John Wesley proclaimed "wanting the whole Christ to be our Savior, wanting the whole Bible to be our Bible, wanting the whole Church to be our fellowship and wanting the whole world (or at least west houston) to be our mission field.
