Monday Musings by Pastor Ron - April 27, 2026

Friends,

I was travelling on Hwy 99 this week as I often do as I come and go from visiting my children and grandchildren or going to hospital visits in Sugarland. If you don't travel it often, you may not know that it has been under construction for the last year between South Fry Road and 1-10. The construction is now completed, and traffic is flowing much better. However, this particular day I noticed that the northbound signage for the exits to 1-10 was very confusing. Susan had told me she had read on Facebook that many people were having difficulty. The signs indicate that there were two exit only lanes to the 1-10 ramp. However, one of the lanes actually splits and continues on 99. The signage is actually correct: there are two exit only lanes. However, the lane striping is wrong with no accurate guide of where to follow. One lane just appears with no striping until you are on the on-ramp.

All of that leads to quite a bit of confusion. People moving in and out of lanes at the last minute because they think they are being forced to exit when they are not or think they are going straight but are forced to exit. That confusion has led to a lot of people ending up in the wrong place or being slowed down in their travels or maybe even with a few dents and dings.

Life is a little like that signage. Confusion and chaos seem to be part of life in this world. It is so hard to know which direction we are supposed to go. It is so difficult to know the path that we should follow. We have plenty of people who want to tell us, but they are not always leading us where we should be going. We have plenty of roadmaps, but they are not always accurate.

This Sunday we are going to tell another Story that Matters. We are once again going to sit with ourselves in the place of doubting Thomas. Talking with Jesus about the places he is going and the things that he is preparing. And Thomas is so confused. He can't follow the map. The indicators don't seem to be very directional. Thomas asks, "How can we know the way" (John 14:5)

Jesus answers Thomas, and us, very simply: "I am the way..." (John 14:6). If we want to stay on the right road. If we want to avoid being lost. If we want to find our way back when we do get lost, then we need to remember there is only one way and that way is Jesus.

That isn't all Jesus tells Thomas that day. There is more good news to be shared. Join us this Sunday to hear more. Until then, keep following the only "Way" that matters.

God bless you. See you Sunday
